Spokane County Sheriff’s Office (SCSO) will be hosting a two-day workshop to discuss current and future de-escalation training. We would like to invite subject matter experts (SMEs) to participate in the workshop. The workshop will be hosted at the SCSO Training Center (6011 N. Chase Rd, Newman Lake WA, 99025), on September 6-7, 2022, from 0800-1700. The goal will be to have an honest and open dialogue regarding the skills, knowledge, and abilities needed to effectively de-escalate oneself and others. More importantly, the information that will be gathered will be used to develop a basic de-escalation course. Once the course has been fully developed, it will be submitted for review and certification by the International Association of Directors of Law Enforcement Standards and Training (IADLEST). Once the course is certified, it will be available for other agencies to use.
