LEMAP

PURPOSE

The WASPC Loaned Executive Management Assistance Program (LEMAP) is a program sponsored by the Washington Association of Sheriffs and Police Chiefs (WASPC) for the purpose of providing management consulting and technical assistance to Association members. LEMAP is an opportunity for law enforcement administrators to avail themselves of a professional review of their department's organization, operations and management systems. The program also provides assistance in evaluating the agency's level of community service in terms of crime prevention through environmental designs. The review is conducted by qualified professionals from the field of law enforcement management. This service is available to all members of WASPC.

The goal of the LEMAP review is to provide law enforcement administrators the opportunity to take a critical look at his/her organization through the eyes of a group of peer professionals. The resulting report will serve as a guide to identify areas that need strengthening and highlight positive/innovative programs within the department. Administrators may be able to utilize the exercise to motivate the department, improve service and gain support from the city, county or tribal administration.

SCOPE OF ASSESSMENT

The scope of the assessment/review will be determined by the client. However, the LEMAP can accommodate efforts that range from full agency reviews of the agency's service effectiveness.

APPLICATION PROCESS

WASPC will accept written requests from WASPC members for a LEMAP review. Requests from non-members will also be accepted, but will be assessed on a different fee schedule. The application request should contain the name of the agency, the person requesting assistance, the person's title, and a short narrative statement outlining the areas of assistance requested. Tentative dates for a review should be indicated by the requesting agency. Within 30 days, WASPC will respond to the request. Completed survey reports are submitted to the executive requesting the study within one month of the completion of the field work.

CONFIDENTIALITY OF REPORT

All Assessment Reports will be considered confidential unless public release is authorized by the client.
