The 2008 legislature extended the program into Washington's Higher Education System. First, it funded the mapping of 20 of the state's 35 community colleges. This work is underway. HB 2507 authorized a study of the state's 4-year colleges, including the 10 Independent Colleges of Washington state. On Nov. 1, 2008 WASPC completed and s ubmitted the Campus Emergency Preparedness Study 2008 to Governor Chris Gregoire and the Legislature. The submitted study focused on three primary areas: 1) campus emergency preparedness, 2) notification of first responders, students, faculty and staff, and the general public, and 3) determining the costs and timelines associated with adding priority campus buildings to the statewide first responder building mapping information system.
